The Shofar

God called the people to Mt. Sinai
With a blast on the shofar.
He wrote the law with His finger,
His children to inspire.

He said, Make two silver trumpets!
And learn to play them with skill.
So I can call My people in
Or send them forth at will.

The people all shouted at the shofar blast

When King David brought the ark up to Jerusalem
He sent trumpets to prepare the way.
When Solomon built the temple he asked
One hundred and twenty to play.
